Solve your landscape clients problems in a blog

Five Problem-Solving Blog Topics for Your Landscape Company

This is a guest post by Wendy Komancheck

Who are your clients? Are they young, married professionals who just bought their first home and need help starting and maintaining their lawn? Are they empty-nesters who travel a lot over the summer and need your lawn services to keep their property neat and clean?

Or are they senior citizens who need regular mowing and other lawn maintenance jobs done because they can’t do it anymore?

The point is, you need to know who your clients are and what problems they need you to solve for them. Granted, you probably have your lawn service programs and other options listed on your website. But are you reaching out to your prospects through your blog and other social media outlets? If not, why not?

The fact is that people in all age groups, including senior citizens are tech savvy and own the newest Smartphone or iPhone. And they’re looking for lawn care services in their area on their mobile devices. How will they find you if you’re not uploading fresh content on a regular basis?

Blank Screen Phobia

Don’t let worrying about coming up with topic ideas keep you from blogging.

Many folks look at a blank screen and panic. And even though you may have hired someone to write your posts, you still need to approve the topics that your writer or Internet marketer produces for you.

When I consult with new clients, I often encourage them to think about how to solve their customers’ problems in their blog posts. What issues do people in your region face?

  • Is it the drought crisis in the southwestern part of the U.S.?
  • Water restrictions in the Midwest?
  • Or grass growing problems in the southeastern part of the U.S.?

No matter where you live and who you serve, your clients will have lawn care problems that they’re looking for you (or your competitors) to solve. And they’re searching the Web for local solutions.

Five Problem-Solving Blog Post Topics for Your Landscape Company

To get started, here are five possible blog ideas that may be worrying your clients and prospects:

  1. How to maintain a healthy lawn and landscape while living within a city’s water restrictions.
  2. How to save money on their water bills while irrigating their lawns.
  3. Fungal and lawn diseases are hot topics when your region has had a very wet spring or summer.
  4. Don’t forget to remind your prospects about how to have a healthy lawn through core aeration, fertilization, good irrigation techniques, the best grass type for your region and the value of soil tests. You may instinctively know all of the above, but your clients don’t (and that’s why they’re looking to you to teach them). Your job is to educate them so that they’ll trust you and hopefully, hire you.
  5. Give lists of DIY tips. Some of my lawn service clients have had great SEO experience by writing tips that a do-it-yourselfer would do. Granted, that person may not hire you, but you’ll be on the top of his mind when his aging mother, co-worker or next door neighbor is looking for a reputable lawn care company.

So what do you think? Will you start to solve your clients and prospects’ problems on your blog? Share your ideas with us in the comments section of this post.
