In our 2015 Green and White Industry Predictions Series, we are talking to a different green, white, or green and white industry expert every week in December to hear about their predictions for the new year.

This week we had the chance to talk with Marty Grunder. Marty not only owns and operates Grunder Landscaping Co., but he also helps other green industry business owners and participants as a consultant, coach and teacher at Marty Grunder Inc.

Here’s what Marty had to share about what’s in store for landscape contractors in 2015.

Go iTalk: What do you think will be the biggest positive for the green industry in 2015?  

Marty Grunder: I believe the business climate will be the biggest positive.  While there are issues in the economy, our ideal clients are spending money and we should have no trouble making sales.  We expect to grow.

Go iTalk: What do you think are the biggest challenges for the green industry in 2015?

Marty Grunder: Easily finding qualified, good workers is the biggest challenge.

Go iTalk: What impact do you think technology and/or the Internet will have on the green industry in 2015?

Marty Grunder: It will help, as it always does, slowly and surely helping all of us be more efficient, thank goodness for technology!

Go iTalk: What is your growth prediction for the green industry in 2015?

Marty Grunder: We anticipate to grow by 15-20%.  With gas prices where they are and the constant positive, psychological impact that will have, coupled with a likely decent performance of the stock market, I think things will be great…….or at least that’s what we’re ‘hoping’ for.

Go iTalk: Any other 2015 predictions or comments?

Marty Grunder: Somehow, the voice of the small business owner needs to be heard in Washington DC.  We have a President that is not supportive of small business and doesn’t understand capitalism.   Republicans have the house and the senate, they need to make our country more business friendly and reduce taxes to stimulate more investment.
